What is the ACFE?

 

The ACFE is the world’s largest anti-fraud organization and premier provider of anti-fraud training and education. Together with more than 80,000 members, the ACFE is reducing business fraud worldwide and inspiring public confidence in the integrity and objectivity within the profession.

 

Based in Austin, Texas, the ACFE was founded in 1988 by preeminent fraud expert and author, Dr. Joseph T. Wells, CFE, CPA. Dr. Wells’ insight as an accountant-turned-FBI agent led to the formation of a common body of knowledge known today as fraud examination.

 

What is the ACFE’s Mission?
 

The mission of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime and to assist the Membership in fraud detection and deterrence. To accomplish our mission, the ACFE:

  • Provides bona fide qualifications for Certified Fraud Examiners through administration of the CFE Examination;

  • Sets high standards for admission, including demonstrated competence through mandatory continuing professional education;

  • Requires Certified Fraud Examiners to adhere to a strict code of professional conduct and ethics;

  • Serves as the international representative for Certified Fraud Examiners to business, government, and academic institutions; and

  • Provides leadership to inspire public confidence in the integrity, objectivity, and professionalism of Certified Fraud Examiners.

 

What are Local Chapters?
 

ACFE Local Chapters are organized by members who reside in a particular geographic region (i.e., a city or country) and share an interest in the detection and deterrence of fraud. Chapters act as local representatives of the ACFE, providing continued support for members worldwide.

 

What is the Atlantic ACFE Chapter?

 

The Atlantic ACFE Chapter is non-profit organization dedicated to training and exchange of knowledge relating to fraud in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. It was established in 2018 to become a platform for anti-fraud professionals to meet and network, share their experience and participate in discussions. We include members representing various industries, such as: government, law enforcement agencies, banking, consulting, and manufacturing. 

 

What is the Atlantic ACFE Chapter’s Mission?

 

The mission of our Chapter is to:

  • Promote fraud awareness in our community

  • Promote member interaction and provide networking opportunities

  • Provide quality and affordable local CPE training

  • Contribute to the Common Body of Knowledge in the anti-fraud community
